Mayor Backs Baltimore Police Commissioner De Sousa, Not So Much...

After Baltimore Police Commissioner Darryl De Sousa was indicted for willfully not filing federal returns in 2013, 2014 and 2015, Baltimore City Mayor Catherine Pugh said she has "full confidence" in the commissioner. She dismissed the situation as a "simple mistake" and that "he is working to resolve the matter, as quickly as possible." 
​Then, in an about face the following day, she suspended him with pay and named Gary Tuggle, as interim commissioner.

On his first day as acting police commissioner, Gary Tuggle  filed a city ethics statement on Friday that – twice – listed his home address as Baltimore, Md.
Tuggle, in fact, lives with his wife in a $760,000 house in Prince George’s County.
Reached this evening by The Brew, Tuggle said, “It should have stated Upper Marlboro. It’s obviously an error on my part.”

Baltimore Police Commissioner Darryl De Sousa has resigned after being indicted for failing to file tax returns for 2013, 2014, and 2015. Baltimore City Mayor Catherine Pugh appointed Gary Tuggle, as interim commissioner. "I want to reassure all Baltimoreans that this development in no way alters our strategic efforts to reduce crime by addressing its root causes in our most neglected neighborhoods," Pugh said in a statement.
